Idea
The project idea is trying to use the right blend of passive and active design strategies to minimize energy, materials, water, and land use. Also to create spaces according to client’s taste & requirements.
Passive Design
In this project we responded to local climate and site conditions to maximize building users' comfort and health while minimizing energy use. We achieved this by using free, renewable sources of energy such as sun and wind to provide household heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting, thereby reducing the need for mechanical heating & removed mechanical cooling.
Key features of passive design
The key elements of passive design in this project are: building location and orientation on the site; building layout; large window design; insulation (including window insulation); thermal mass; shading; and ventilation. Each of these elements works with others to achieve comfortable temperatures and good indoor air quality.
At the first step we tried to achieve the right amount of solar access – enough to provide warmth during cooler months but prevent overheating in summer. This is done through a combination of location and orientation, room layout, window design and shading.
Insulation and thermal mass help to maintain even temperatures, while ventilation provides passive cooling as well as improving indoor air quality.

Site specific consideration during design:
-latitude
-sun path ( sun shade)
- seasonal variation in solar gain
- insulation
- solar insulation
- humidity
- diurnal variations in temperature
- micro-climate details
- water access
- rural water supply system
